Q: Do I really need to submit an abstract?
Yes! Anyone intending to submit a paper or poster is asked to
submit an abstract, title, and keywords by June 8. You many cancel your submission (or
simply not complete it) if you later decide not to submit.
Q: Why do we need to submit an abstract?
The abstracts will be used to assign papers to reviewers; we want
to ensure we have enough reviewers and good topic coverage for the
submissions we expect to receive.
Q: Can we change/update our abstract?
Yes. The online abstract submission is for assignment purposes
only. The abstract in your submission may differ. However, the
submitted abstract and paper must be in agreement with the original
abstract and selected keywords.
Q: How long should the abstract be, and in what format?
It should be about as long as your paper abstract, so typically a
paragraph or two. You will upload your initial abstract as in
plain text through the online submission system. Final paper
submissions will be in PDF, also uploaded through the online
system.
Q: How do I submit a demo? I don't see a demo category.
Anyone wishing to demo at TableTop 2007 should submit either a
paper or poster submission (as appropriate for your research and
interest). All accepted authors will be invited to demo their work
live at the workshop.
Q: What's the difference between a paper and a poster submission?
Which should I submit?
Two answers:
(1) In general we expect a "full" paper to be more polished than a
"short" paper, and short papers to be more polished than a poster
submission. Polish refers to the depth and maturity level of the
research or concept. We would also expect full papers to include an
appropriate (and more comprehensive) related work section to
provide context for your work.
(2) Papers will be presented by authors in a formal talk setting
whereas posters provide a more interactive forum.
You should choose the submission category that best fits the
maturity of your work and your preferred presentation format.
Q: What does it mean for TableTop to be colocated with UIST?
We have made arrangements for anyone registered for TableTop 2007
to attend the last paper session on the last day UIST (Wed, Oct 10) for
free; see the UIST 2007 website for program information.
Q: Are submissions to TableTop anonymous?
No. All submissions will be anonymously reviewed by the committee, but authors do not need to submit their materials anonymously.
